50's wiring mod
The 50's wiring mod is a simple modification that changes the modern style wiring harness that Gibson uses to the syle of harness that they used during the 1950's.
The main effect that this mod has is to prevent the slight treble bleed that occurs when you turn down the volume on a modern Gibson. This occurs because the volume pots are directly connected to the capacitor. To make the change, you simply move the capacitors leg from the "hot" lug on the volume pot to the centre lug. This stops there being a direct connection from the pickup to capacitor. Examine the diagrams below to see the change for yourself.
